hi, well I have never played around with ubuntu, but I looked at the page a little and I heard that you can actually use the soundcard for a synth.
so anyway, I just would like to install it from a thumb drive or an easier way for a newbie. I do want to install it with speech if possible, and have it come up with speech, without having to type a command line every time to start the speech(unlike slackware that would seemed to have a broken speech package since v 10 or so)
thanks

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu and could install with speech. The Orca screen reader works fine in my installation.

If you wish to install from the live cd, there are a few keystrokes to do at boot time, in order to get a talking desktop. Once it's running, you can hit the installer icon, and go through the wizard.

If you visit the Ubuntu page on the Orca homepage, you'll find instructions.
